Power Steering Fluid Exchange
The power steering system operates as the control system for your wheels. It depends on power from the vehicle and the power steering fluid used to lubricate and keep the system free of contamination. When the additives wear down in your power steering fluid, the system does not operate as designed. Sludge, varnish, stiffness, leaks and power steering system failure can occur. Servicing the power steering system keeps it operating smoothly. During the service, the old fluid is removed, the power steering system is cleaned, and new power steering fluid is added.
Does your power steering fluid need to be flushed?
Grease Monkey™ recommends a Power Steering Fluid Flush in accordance with your owner’s manual recommended service intervals. If none is given, many fluid manufacturers recommend a complete power steering fluid flush once a year or every 30,000 miles. Another guideline is to change the power steering fluid at the same interval as your engine coolant.
